RbCo2Se2 is isostructural to the intercalated high Tc iron-based superconductor RbFe2Se2. Via a combined ARPES, neutron, transport, and DFT study, we identify the origin of the ferromagnetic order in this material to be due to the tuning of a flatband near the Fermi level achieved via heavy electron-doping from RbFe2Se2. by the replacement of Fe by Co. Furthermore, we identify this flatband to be a common feature in the generic electronic structure of iron-based superconductors, and accessible in general via carrier doping.
