Yucheng wins Neville B. Smith poster award! Congratulations!
Congratulations to Yucheng for winning 2nd place in the ALS Student Poster Competition in the annual user meeting, for the poster, “Spin excitations from flat electronic bands in a Cr-based kagome superconductor.” Well done!
Yichen wins the Dunlap award! Congrats!
Congratulations to Yichen, who has won the departmental Henry F. and Margaret Dunlap Fellowship this year! This is a merit-based award to encourage scholarship and research in physics and is given to two continuing PhD students who have achieved PhD
Yichen and Ziqin are invited to go to the 2024 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Physics! Congrats and enjoy your meetings with the Nobel Laureates!

Han’s newest paper published in Nat. Comm.: Switching vacancy order on and off results in topology change in van der Waals ferromagnet Fe5GeTe2. Congratulations!
Congrats to Han for his newest paper published in Nat. Comm.: Reversible non-volatile electronic switching in a near-room-temperature van der Waals ferromagnet, where he discovered a tunable vacancy order that can be switched on and off to change the electronic
Thank you to Priscila Rosa and Filip Ronning for writing a very nice News and Views on our pyrochlore flatband paper!

Zheng’s work on the kagome CDW system ScV6Sn6 has appeared in npj Quantum Materials!
In this work, we combine the ARPES evidence and the STM evidence (in collaboration with Ilija Zeljkovic’s group at Boston College) for charge order in the kagome system ScV6Sn6. Congrats to Zheng and Jiseop who led the ARPES work: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41535-024-00623-9
Jianwei’s 3D pyrochlore paper is published in Nature Physics! Congrats to everyone involved!
In this study, we unveil the mechanism of producing a flat electronic band at the Fermi level in a quantum material: geometric frustration in 3D pyrochlore lattice first produces a flat band, then orbital-selective electron correlations push it to the
New publication in PRB: magnetic fluctuations in 2D van der Waals magnet Cr2Ge2Te6. Congrats to Han for leading this work!
The data in this paper took a long time to see light, but we are proud to present our newest publication to start year 2024. By a very detailed temperature-dependent measurement of ARPES, we are able to identify effects of
Congrats to Yichen on winning an ICAM-sponsored Accelnet Quantum Materials Science Exchange Award!
Yichen received an ICAM-sponsored Accelnet Quantum Materials Science Exchange Award to travel to the group of Jan Minar at the University of West Bohemia. Congratulations and we look forward to this wonderful collaboration!
